Under 9s Report
The 2013 season for the Cowbridge U9s was very encouraging. Many of the squad of 22 players had not played any cricket before winter nets commenced in early February.
The coaches worked mostly on creating a bowling action and teaching fielding skills which allowed the teams to perform to a good level once matches started in May.
With the weather being so warm and dry all through the summer this allowed us to play all our Sunday tournaments which consisted of 4 teams playing 3 matches each.
The squad was rotated every week giving as many much game time as possible to all the players.
Cowbridge played 33 matches, winning 30 of them with 3 defeats ( 3 Cowbridge players were lent to the opposition in 2 of the defeats due to the opposition being short ! ).
With regular practice and plenty of match time skill levels improved right through the summer and by the end of the season some proper and competitive cricket was played by a very capable bunch.
At the end of the season 5 players were sent to county trials, 3 have been selected for the county squad in 2014 and the other 2 are in a development set up.
Well done to all the players and a big thank you to all the parents who helped during the season with scoring, support and BBQs etc.
The 2013 squad was: Finlay Ball, Edward Bosworth, Kyle Brewer, Robbie Brown, Tom Collingridge,Ben Davies, Archie Debbage, William Hamlett, Will Harris, Dexter Hart, Archie Lloyd, Tom McCarthy, Thomas Morgan, Ellis Murphy, Isaac Owen, Guru Pandya, Alys Phillips Rhys Pritchard, Alfie Rees, Lewis Sevenoaks, Finlay Sullivan, Harry Treharne.
