Under 13s XI Report

Jon Smart

Cowbridge Under 13 Coach

Played 9, won 2, lost 5, conceded 2, finishing 8th in the highly competitive Cardiff and Vale Under 13s League.

It was clear from the outset that this was going to be a difficult year for the Under 13s.

Despite having an enthusiastic group, numbers were limited during pre-season training sessions and this was depleted further at the start of the season due to injuries, dropouts and other commitments.

Nonetheless, during the season Harry Treharne, Alys Phillips and Lewis Sevenoaks regularly made excellent contributions with the bat whilst Ellis Murphy, Siân Russell and Will Harris were the main wicket takers.

There were strong individual performances at times from Dylan Jones, Rhys Pritchard and Ben Davies and it was extremely pleasing to see the enthusiasm and improvement made by Isaac Owen and Matthew Cooper who were the most reliable during the summer training sessions.

Again, it was great to see either County or National junior honours being awarded to Siân Russell, Alys Phillips, Harry Treharne and Lewis Sevenoaks, all of whom also played senior league cricket for Cowbridge. Will Harris, who continues to impress, is one of the most consistent bowlers at this age level and was also a regular in Cowbridge's 2nd XI team, making a number of valuable contributions.

Whilst the results were perhaps not as good as we had hoped, there were some excellent performances, improvement made and a great spirit amongst the squad.

On behalf of the Under 13s, I would like to thank Lloyd Murphy and Owain Scholey (Under 11s) who played in the team when numbers were short and also to the parents who regularly helped out at matches and training sessions.
